Community Based Rehabilitation

The Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) unit is an important instrument that expands the reach of the many services provided through KIRAN and provides access and information for the students on campus as well as through the broader reach to different parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

The CBR unit allows families to remain in their villages and still receive the needed support for their children. Annual outreach camps are conducted with assistance from the Rehabilitation department to help families gain access to either CBR resources or on-campus assistance. The CBR unit is able to provide medical care and services, therapy, and distribute orthotic and prosthetic devices to families and children in need throughout rural areas.

Through this unit, KIRAN provides micro-credit opportunities to many families which have the potential to improve their situation and integration into society. The CBR unit works in more than 50 villages focusing on health, disability awareness, and for improving the livelihood of families.
