PCCU (Parents Child Care Unit) :
The Parent Child Care Unit (PCCU) is the “entrance door” to the KIRAN Centre for all parents and their children with different abilities. The unit’s main objective is to provide guidance to parents and their differently-able children.
The process begins with registration and evaluation by a team of qualified professionals which includes a neurologist, an occupational therapist, a psychologist, a speech therapist, and a special educator. After understanding the needs of the child an individualized rehabilitation plan (IRP) is drawn and implemented with the active participation of the parents. This IRP is used throughout their therapy program and education to ensure that each child receives adequate and holistic care according to their individualized needs.
The children are also referred to specialized units and departments such as speech therapy, education, or vocational training departments depending on their needs and abilities. This unit also conducts training programs such as Mother’s Training; Family Mediated Intensive program, in collaboration with Com DEALL Trust, Bangalore; and group therapy for strengthening information and providing guidance to parents.
