Awareness Programs

To mark International Women’s Day, KIRAN hosted an event on the situation of women’s security. KIRAN’s Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Unit, which has been working with the HAL project (Health, Awareness, and Livelihood, supported by Big Lottery Fund, UK), organized the programme, with the help of HRTC students from KIRAN.

Around 1500 women, mostly from rural areas, attended the event, some with their children, from three blocks from Varanasi and Mirzapur Districts. Speakers discussed the necessity for all women to empower themselves, to realize their rights and duties and lift themselves up.  With Ration Cards changing to be held in the female’s name as a head of family, it was said that it is particularly important for women to become knowledgeable and aware of these rights so that they may seek the opportunities available to them.

KIRAN is happy to have been able to host such a successful event !

Our school children had wonderful trip to Allahabad about 125 km far from Varanasi city by train on Sunday, March 1, 2015. We the children & staff would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the GEBERIT Sanitation group for their generous support for this program.

Anti Plastic Campaign

On 27th of January 2015, it was an occasion to celebrate our Foundation day and Birthday of our Executive Director – Sangeeta Bahin Ji.

We had decided to celebrate it as a day for anti plastic campaign. Our many children, youngsters and diploma students were involved in it. They met people on road side, with shop keepers and many more to convince them to minimize use of plastic in our daily life.
